How to add custom fields into your reminders

With the latest release of our software, we added many new features.  Among them is the ability to send custom fields in your reminders. What is a custom field? A custom field is a way for you to add information pertaining to a specific reminder. For example, let’s say we are sending a reminder to someone about a personal training session at your gym, ironically called “Jim’s Gym”.

Now, we have already set up a “reminder type”. This reminder type happens to be a text message, although you can use custom fields with emails or calls as well.

Our reminder type looks like this…

Hello…

You have a personal training session on

at

at

Jim’s Gym.

Your personal trainer will be

Please reply ‘confirm’ to confirm the appt.

Now, in the custom field, we are going to enter the personal trainer’s name, which in this case is “Arnold S.”. So our text message will look like…

Hello Bob, You have a personal training session on 4/15 at 11 AM at Jim’s Gym. Your personal trainer will be Arnold S. Please reply ‘confirm’ to confirm the appt.

We can add this custom field when we are creating the appt so if the trainer changes every week, we can easily add the trainer’s name.  You can also use custom fields to add things like room numbers, amounts due, and more. You can add up to 3 custom fields in each reminder type. You can add the custom fields either through import files, calendars or through our online interface.

How does a custom field differ from a text block? Text blocks are added to the “reminder type” and would not change every time you schedule an appointment.  For example “Hello…” in our example above is a text block.  Custom fields are dynamic and can change every time you send the reminder, much like the date and time.
