Heating & AC Reminders
If you own a Heating & AC installation and repair company, you know that keeping your customers happy is important. Especially during the coldest and hottest months of the year is vital for your business to thrive throughout the year. Fall is here and its beautiful, trees are changing colors and weather is dropping. Winter is around the corner and the cold and snow the will follow. Many people are making sure the Heating & AC are working properly. Many people start making appointments around this time. Boilers, gas heaters, and furnaces are all potentially dangerous if poorly maintained. Therefore should be inspected regularly to make sure they are still safe to run. Lying dormant during the summer may allow a heater to fall into disrepair, as can constantly use during the winter.
“Before the weather turns cold, take this time to change your filters, at the very least. I recommend having the system inspected by a reputable HVAC contractor. It’s much better to find an Heating & AC problem in the moderate temperatures of the fall than it is to find your furnace doesn’t work on a frigid winter day.”
– Jeremy N. (Master HVAC Tech)
Missed appointments and misunderstandings during extreme weather months can lead to frayed nerves on both sides, lost revenue, and scathing reviews. No customer wants to hear that you can’t make it out to their home during a cold or hot spell when their home’s Heating & AC system isn’t working.
You also don’t want to arrive at someone’s home in the middle of a cold or heat wave only to find they aren’t home. You’ve just wasted your time and lost money, plus missed out on other customers who may have needed your services at such a high demand time of the year.
With the Appointment Reminder service, both your customers and you can easily remember a set date and time. You then simply send an email confirmation with your company’s logo, plus the name and a photo of the person who’ll be ringing their doorbell.
Instead of a plain, impersonal email message that your customer may or may not read, Appointment reminder email will stand out and help them remember their appointment with your HVAC company. Customers can see a photo of the employee who’ll be in their home, along with a name and short bio, helping them feel more secure. What you choose to include in your email reminder is up to you.
One of the outstanding features of the Appointment Reminder service is that you can customize it to fit your Heating & AC company’s needs. Our easy-to-use software lets you decide how you want your email and texts reminders to look. And our great customer service is always available to answer your questions. You can also easily change various aspects of your emails/texts whenever you want. For example, you may want to increase the frequency of appointment reminders during the busier summer and winter months, so no costly mix-ups or missed appointments occur.
Keeping to an efficient, on-time schedule will win your HVAC company reviews, more heating and cooling referrals and new HVAC customers. Like any service business, you know sticking to a schedule is important. Missed appointments are always bad for business, but if someone’s home is freezing cold or uncomfortably hot, that mistake is greatly magnified.
Appointment Reminders service can help your employees make a great first (or second) impression on your customers. Not only is your employee on time, but customers are more likely to be at ease, having already seen and read about the person at their door. They can even compare the photo in your email with the employee standing in front of them. Get the winning edge over the competition with the Appointment Reminders service. Your HVAC company will grow, no matter what temperature or time of year it is.

7 Ways To Make Your House Warmer
1. Install a Programmable Thermostat
A programmable thermostat allows you to preset temperatures for different times of the day because you don’t need to keep your home at 68 degrees around the clock. Although one shouldn’t be used with heat pumps, a programmable thermostat is a real money-saver with air-conditioning as well as with heat. Choose a setting on the low end when you’re sleeping or are away and go with a higher setting at other times for savings of between 10 and 20 percent of your bill. Some units can store up to four temperature settings each day — e.g., morning, day, evening, night. All have a manual override switch.
You can generally install a new thermostat yourself. Always follow manufacturer’s instructions, but typically you remove the old thermostat and unscrew the wire leads attached to the terminals on the back. Reattach those wires to the new thermostat’s terminals, after inserting mounting screws in the wall, if necessary. (If you have separate heating and A/C units that use the same thermostat, you may find four leads, two for each unit.)
2. Lower the Thermostat
Each degree you lower the thermostat on your heating system decreases your fuel bill by 3 percent. Going from 72 degrees down to 68 degrees doesn’t matter much in terms of comfort, but it can save up to 12 percent on your heating bill. (All temperatures in this article are in degrees Fahrenheit.) If you’re using a coil-type thermostat, you’ll get more accurate readings if you clean it. Pop off the thermostat cover and blow or gently swipe away the dust.
3. Reverse Ceiling Fans
If you have ceiling fans, reverse the motion so they are moving clockwise. This will help move warm air downward where it’s needed to keep you warm. Not all energy experts feel it’s a good idea to use them in the heating season (doubters says they cool the air too much), but the fans do help bring heated air down to earth in rooms with cathedral or high-sloped ceilings.
4. Change Your Furnace Filter
If you have a forced-air system, changing the furnace filter can save you some energy (up to 5 percent) and keep dust down in the house. The system will last longer and be less likely to break down. The most popular 16 X 20-inch duct filter costs around 50 cents when bought by the box. Change them monthly during heating season. Measure your air filter before shopping; they range in size from 12 X 12 inches to 30 X 30 inches. An alternative to swapping out the replacement filter is to use washable filters (around $20 each). With care, they can last five years.
5. Adjust Your Water Heater
You use more hot water in winter. Lower the water heater temperature from 140 degrees to 120 degrees. And take showers, not baths. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the average bath consumes up to 25 gallons of hot water, while a five-minute shower uses up much less — only around 10 gallons.
6. Install a Door Sweep
If you feel cold air seeping beneath a door leading outside and find that using a door snake is inconvenient, install a draft-defeating nylon door sweep. This long, thin broom like vinyl-and-pile attachment gets installed along the inside bottom edge of the door. Cut the sweep to fit with a hacksaw and keep it in place with four or five wood screws. If you heat the garage, check to see if cold air is infiltrating along the bottom edge of the door. Rubber garage-door gaskets, nailed in place with 1 in. galvanized roofing nails, can stop that cold air cold.
7. Radiant Floor Heat
If you’re already in the market for a remodel, think about radiant floor heating, whether electric or hydronic. Because floor heating has a constant output, you don’t have the large swings (and increased bills) caused by appliances designed to turn off and on again when the temperature drops.
